Pin Oak Trees, or Quercus palustris, are probably the most widely used native oaks for landscaping. Oak Pin is one of the faster growing oaks, 12 to 15' over a 5 to 7 year period. Oak Pin can also be used in a wetland environment.
The Pin Oak grows in wet, often poorly drained soils of bottomlands and swamps.

The strong, close-grained woods warps and checks badly in drying and has limited uses. Various wildlife, including Wood Ducks, feed on the acorns.
Pin oak has moderate water requirements and has a moderate tolerance to salt and alkali soils.
